The building that houses the “Museo Diocesano” (the Diocesan Museum) is the Palacio Episcopal (the Episcopal Palace). The construction of the building started in the XVIII century, and it finished in the XIX century. It is one of the best examples of neoclassical art in Palencia.
The Diocesan Museum was inaugurated in 1973.
The museum has changed a lot. Nowadays, it has 12 rooms that are distributed across 2 floors. It has lots of artworks, like altarpieces, sculptures, a baptismal font made by Valcabeza, and very important paintings. The most important paintings are the panel paintings by Pedro Berruguete.
