The Town Hall of Palencia was built because the old Town Hall was too small. The construction of the new Town Hall started in 1858 and it lasted 20 years.
The building is in neoclassical style. The façade is divided in three modules. The central module is the more important: it is bigger and it has more decorative elements than the other two. The façade is organized in a geometrical way.
There is a stairway to get to the first floor. On the stairway, you can see an enormous painting by Germán Calvo, a local artist. It represents an allegory of the city.
In the Town Hall, you can see many artworks from local artists: Victorio Macho, Asterio Mañanós, Germán Calvo...
