ST. LAZARUS CHURCH - AUDIO GUIDE
AUDIO GUIDE TRANSCRIPTION
St. Lazarus church was built in 1100. It was founded by “El Cid Campeador – The Champion Lord” as a leper hospital. The remains of that hospital are the oldest part of the church.
On the outside, we can recognize three parts: the facade, the tower, which is smooth and simple, and the apse.
On the inside, the church has only one nave.
After the fire suffered by the church in the mid-twentieth century and the collapse of the vaults in 1955, the church underwent a major renovation.
The altarpiece in the main chapel was made in the 16th century.
