SALON GARDENS - AUDIO GUIDE
AUDIO GUIDE TRANSCRIPTION
The Salon Gardens were built where the vegetable garden of the convent of Carmen used to be. The construction started in 1837 and it finished in 1841. The Town hall named it as Salon de Isabel II Park, but is commonly known as the Salon.
Over time, the park has suffered a lot of changes. Lots of elements have been added: a fountain, a greenhouse and a bandstand. But most of these elements have disappeared.
The Salon has a lot of plant and animal species.
Plant examples: pines, chestnuts, cedars, acacias,…
Animal examples: sparrows, pigeons, magpies, goldfinches,…
The last modification was made in the 20th century. Nowadays, the park has 30.000 square meters.
